Adventures with the Boswells

Monthly Archives: March 2012

First things first. My grandpa is cooler than your grandpa.

He has cool guns, and takes Mom and I to shoot them at the gun range.

Now. Back to chronological order.

Last night, I took a walk with this handsome man!

I’m obsessed with really green grass. Seriously, it’s one of my favorite things to see.

I wuv him.

Add tulips to my list of favorite things.

And now, in the spirit of trying new things… the gun range. Pop-Pop took Mom and me this morning with his super cool 22 and his revolver, and we rocked it in the freezing cold room. (I think their A/C was broken. Lol.) Before today, I’d shot a gun once in my life at another gun range, and immediately after the shell flew out and landed on my jacket, I put the gun down and willingly stepped aside to let my cousin shoot the rest of the bullets. Today, I faced a tiny fear of being blown to bits and shot dozens of bullets. *insert pleased smirk* :)

Guys. I can’t tell you how cool this makes me feel.

See that “X” in the middle? We call that a buuuullllllseye! ;)

It was exhilarating. I can’t believe it, but I really loved it. Haha. I definitely like archery better, but I have to admit I felt pretty boss shooting a gun. ;-p

Hope you all are having a less-than-dangerous Tuesday and enjoying this fabulous weather. :)

The unbelievably gorgeous weather has me daydreaming of summer today. Don’t summer lists make you excited for it too!? I have so much I want to do that I needed two lists to fit everything. ;) Enjoy. And try not to mock me. :)

Anyone else think this was the quickest week in the history of Spring Breaks? Yes? Okay, good. Thought it was just me.

Enjoy a smattering of photos from this fine weekend. :)

We went to see Hunger Games Friday. I won’t attempt to depict how awesome it is; just go see it. Read the books first. And enjoy it. Glorious. There’s a pic somewhere of our really excited faces on Instagram, but I can’t find it on my computer now, so just believe me when I say we looked ridiculously excited. Lol.

Mom and Dad-in-law took us to Earl’s for lunch on Saturday, where I snapped this photo because Hubs looks so good in blue. And when he’s about to eat BBQ.

We went on a walk around Hafer Park to burn off our curly fry calories. Tulips! Tulips EVERYWHERE! It’s gorgeous.

Sported a braid to church today in honor of Katniss. [Side note...Dad, who actually stayed awake during the whole movie, has started calling me "Caitniss." I've never been more excited about a nickname in my life. ;) Haha.]

He takes me to Longhorn. I love him.

Still too obsessed. I promise I’ll keep the Hunger Games talk to a minimum from now on. :)

Happy Sunday!

Confession. I’ve been in a bit of a funk since my birthday. [And since reading the entire Hunger Games series in three days. I loooooved it.] This funk, I believe, was brought on by me turning another year older, and evaluating how much I’ve accomplished in 22 years. It was a very weird few days of moody blues when it started, and quite frankly, I hated it. I kept regretting not doing this, not doing that, never taking this class, or never pursuing that dream. Suddenly, I wanted to write books, be in movies, travel the world, and other such ludicrous dreams I used to dream. I had a sudden fear that my life was moving too fast, and I didn’t have enough time to accomplish everything on my bucket list.

A good thing, however, that’s come of my absurd “third-of-life crisis” as I like to call it (I know…Brad already told me that means I’d only live to be 66. Lol.) is that I’ve been longing to be more spontaneous and try new things. If you know me very well, you know I’m very comfortable in my routine, comfortable in things that are reliable and steady. Lately, however, I’ve been running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to make every minute mean something. It’s a little exhausting, but I’ve enjoyed it. ;)

Yesterday, Brad and Mom and I went to the archery range at Heartland. And it was awesome. I’m anxious to try the gun range too, but in the light of the popular Hunger Games, archery seemed fitting to try first. :)

All the pros pose like this. Really.

Mom’s pretty hard core. Don’t get on her bad side.

Brad made farting jokes the whole night. Don’t ask.

And enjoy this little iPhone movie courtesy of Mama Ulrich.

Oh and seize the day. And all that jazz. ;-P

I am oh so terribly behind on editing and cleaning and everything it feels like, so today’s will be a quick post.

This morning’s breakfast. The last slice of cookie cake. So sad.

This morning’s soundtrack. Nickel Creek. They complete me.

My sweet bestie at her bridal shower this past weekend! I cannot BEGIN to describe how excited I am for her. :)

Guys. I want a dog so bad.

My Uncle Mike scored me Thunder tickets for my birthday, and Andrew & I had a blast last night. :) Our boys rocked that game.

Love. him.

Have a magnificent rainy day! :)

When I am old and gray
And my time begins to wane,
I’ll think of birthdays come and gone
And I’ll think of yesterday.

I’ll remember turning 22
And feeling oh so old.
But I’ll remember times that made me smile,
And I’ll have my stories told.

The night before my birthday,
My husband gave me this.
I shrieked and squealed, and read all night
And I thanked him with a kiss.

In the morning came a present
That was hanging on my door.
A funny, punny Mother had sent me
A “ped-egg-cure.”

And then my dear sweet family
Had decorated the car a while
When I saw the back said “Team Peeta!”
I had to give a smile.

Sweet hubs surprised me very well
With a sailing trip for two!
He knows my love for all things nautical
And for adventure too.

My best friend is truly awesome
And on massage tables we lay,
When we found out she had a man masseuse
I laughed for the entire day. (Seriously.)

She took me out to lunch
At a place I long had missed.
And then Dad-in-law surprised me
And gave me all of this!

And next, we painted pottery!
And hit up Sonic on the way,
And before I knew it, I was playing with puppies
What a magnificent birthday!

Hubs took me to Olive Garden
I took no pictures though
All I was thinking about at the time
Was where those 5 breadsticks would go

And then we visited family
To complete my lovely day!
And then at home I slipped into comfy clothes
And finished reading Mockingjay!

Thank you, friends and family,
For your creativity galore!
I feel so blessed and happy.
You all are so adored. :)

Story time. :)  [Mushy alert]

The week before I met my husband (almost 5 years ago), Mom and I were at a Falls Creek meeting on a Sunday night at church. I was excited for the week of camp, and thrilled to get some Jesus time. It had been a less than friendly year, and I remember struggling with self-confidence issues. Mom and I were chatting in a pew, filling out my paperwork, and waiting for the meeting to start. And then there he was. I’d seen the boy with the blonde hair around youth before. Always thought he was super cute – but never said a word to him. He hung out with a bunch of boys I didn’t know super well, so our paths never really crossed. As he and some boys were walking by, I nudged my Mom and said, “Hey, isn’t that kid cute?! The one with the blonde hair??”

Of course he was cute. He was my future husband. Sometimes I wish I could go back and watch myself fall in love with him again.

I remember learning that night that one of my favorite Bible verses was going to be our theme verse for the week. It was in Psalm 86, a chapter I’d just memorized the past year. I told Mom this later in the meeting, and she smiled and said, “You’re going to have a great week.” We had no idea what kind of “great week” God had planned. That God. So clever. ;)

And after a few days of playing four-square, shameless flirting, and the sweet boy with the blonde hair buying me ice cream, I fell hard. The rest is history.

I’ve fallen in love with my husband all over again the past few days. I still can’t believe I got so darn lucky. Last night, we went on a walk near our apartment complex, and down the street is an awesome field I’ve used for pictures before. Daylight savings is my favorite when it makes it lighter at night, and I got really excited when I saw the trees were green and the sun was gorgeous…so I made the boy with the blonde hair take pictures with me. We ran back to change and grab my camera and tripod. He’s such a good sport. Shaved and everything. :)

Who knew the boy would be so good at taking pictures? Meant to be.

The boy is silly too. But he makes me laugh. :)

Sometimes, my remote does not cooperate with me. But this is my new favorite picture.

Sigh. This one gives me butterflies.

Go ahead. Stare. I know he looks good. ;)

Love you, husband. So thankful for you and your blue eyes and your blonde hair. :)

What a whirlwind weekend we had. (Say that 5 times fast) Where shall I begin?

Friday was made fabulous by my Mama bringing me this card with a Braum’s gift card inside it. :) I want to squish that fluffy baby and snuggle him. (I know he’s wearing a pink bandana…but the back of the card called him Thomas and therefore, I assume he’s a boy.)

Words cannot express how dearly I love this man. Look at that face of pure joy. :) He got his Potbelly’s.

Fountains down the street from our hotel in Dallas. :)

The spellmaster.

The Mamas.

And the Papas.

The hubs looking extra full…

Because he consumed it before I got a chance to take a picture.

The breakfast of champions. Via The Original Pancake House. Dare I tell you they were better than IHOP’s?

IKEA. How I’d longed to browse your modern rooms of bright and affordable goodness. It did me well to see you. ;)

A couple of my IKEA finds…more to come soon. And oh, you spot that handsome man holding me in the picture in the background? That’s for our new house. The one we’ll be living in within the next TWO MONTHS. :D

Happy Monday. :)

We’re off to Dallas today with our families for a weekend getaway. Alyssa has a spelling bee to conquer, and the rest of us have food and shopping to conquer. ;)

How about another round of countdowns since I don’t have much time to post before we hit the road?? I think this is the first time in my life I’ve not packed and planned ahead of time. *Ashamed.* On to countdowns!

6 days till my birthday! Guys. I’m going to have a chocolate chip pancake for breakfast, get massages and lunch with my best friend Kristi Belle, and then Andrew and I will be heading somewhere delicious for dinner. I haven’t decided yet. Suggestions? :) I know it’s sad my birthday revolves around food…but I think it’s acceptable considering the past two months. Haha. The Saturday after my bday Andrew & I are going to the zoo, and we’re having a family party that night at Mom & Dad’s with pizza and cookie cake. :-D

44 days till Andrew’s birthday! Still can’t tell you what I’m planning for him yet, but I’ll post pictures after his big day. :)

53 days till our lease is up and we are IN A NEW HOUSE! I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. We are praying God provides the perfect place – we’ll be house hunting the next few weeks, and can’t wait to see where we’ll live!

57 days till Andrew is on summer break. This one makes me uber happy too. My man works hard, and he deserves a vaca from school. And I’m planning lots of fun summer activities already. :) Side note…who has a boat we can borrow!? ;)

73 days till our 1-year anniversary trip to Disney World!!! Halleflippinlujah. This vaca cannot come fast enough!

Happy Friday loves! Have a fabulous weekend. :)
