Adventures with the Boswells

Category Archives: Random

I’ve confessed here and here. And I’m back with more. Mostly because I’m on an editing roll and don’t have time to bring you my other planned posts yet. ;)

-

Over the last two weeks, I’ve eaten anywhere from 1-4 mini 3 Musketeer bars a day. They’re slowly taking the place of my Hershey’s obsession.

I don’t like the high-low dresses. They remind me of mullets.

I’m terrified of going to the doctor. I’d rather live with a sickness for a month than visit the doctor and have them shove uncomfortable things in my ears, up my nose, and down my throat.

I get really, really, unnaturally excited when going to IHOP. And I order a side of extra chocolate chips for my pancakes because life is short.

I don’t deal well with conflict. If something upsets me, my usual way of dealing with it is telling Andrew and having a piece of chocolate. Or pizza.

If someone is sitting at a green light, unaware of its recent change from red, I can’t even bring myself to honk because I feel rude. I need my car to have a button that signals a voice to say, “Good sir, the light has turned green.”

I have a humiliating amount of notecards, stationery, journals, and writing utensils.

Ewan McGregor’s voice gives me goosebumps. Even the same songs I’ve heard a million times.

If pizza and pancakes had no calories, I would have no problems.

I’ve already named my future children. And planned their newborn shoots.

I talk in my sleep. Or rather, speak in tongues in my sleep, as my noises don’t usually form words.

I get nervous in the drive-thru and rehearse my order ahead of time. If Andrew doesn’t know what he wants, I won’t go through until he’s decided. Sometimes he stalls on purpose to make me flustered, because apparently giving your spouse an ulcer is fun.

I get really embarrassed when Jack barks at people.

Target, Forever 21, Old Navy…all just stores to most people. Unavoidable addictions to me.

I crave Colorado from time to time just as much as I crave a Reese’s sundae from Braum’s. Well…maybe just a little less than a sundae some days… ;)

I’m not good at trying new foods. Or liking foods that normal people like.

My favorite movies aren’t chick flicks. They’re films like Jurassic Park, Jaws, and Skyfall.

Happy Tuesday, darlings. More exciting blogs to come soon, I promise. :)

Today, I’m feeling extra thankful for two of my favorite people and my favorite fur ball.

011small

I’m married to this ridiculously handsome man. He makes me laugh every day, and I am pretty sure I’m the luckiest. He works super hard, prays with me, and buys me cookie cake. And he took me to see Man of Steel last night, IHOP for breakfast this morning, and took me to the zoo today. WINNER. (P.S. Man of Steel was amazing…still sitting here in awe of Russell Crowe’s acting and Henry Cavill’s jawline.)

And this girl. Allow me to brag for a moment. She is the most fabulous best friend on the planet and is such an encouragement to me. I am so thankful for how God brought us into each other’s lives at the perfect time. We have such a great camaraderie based on Jesus, laughter, pictures, and good food. She is a lovely friend for life, and I look forward to the days when we’re pushing babies in strollers around the zoo and being judged by everyone who sees how many photos we’re taking. ;)

And Lord knows I can’t even imagine what life would be like without this fur ball. He has become the most snuggly little nugget, and I adore him and his 85-pound cuddles. :)

Happy Saturday loves!

A few things I’ve learned in my 23 years…

1. You can get a personal alfredo pizza from Cici’s for less than $3, and if your body’s metabolism is anywhere close to mine (not super fast), you can have it for dinner and still lose weight. I’ve tested this theory three times (go ahead…judge me). I lost a pound each time when I had a good, fairly healthy breakfast and lunch, followed by a good, delicious personal pizza dinner. It’s a divine way to lose weight and save money. ;)

2. Movies are cheaper on Amazon 99% of the time. Buy them used if the seller has good reviews. Our movie collection is embarrassingly huge. Almost everything is cheaper on Amazon, in fact.

3. If you run at Hafer Park, you will see approximately 4.5 dogs per run, and that will make running easier, because you’ll be all, “OH hi cute dog!” If you run in my neck of the woods, you can expect to see squished frogs that have been flattened by tires and one really mean bulldog who barks his head off for apparently no reason.

4. Etsy is a land of good and evil. You can find cute, cheap, homemade and vintage things. You will also find the inner turmoil of your online shopping soul that won’t let you stop buying things. Perhaps even more dangerous than Etsy is Groopdealz. I apologize if you all go empty your bank accounts now.

5. Bad days will always be made better if you take a trip to the mall and get yourself a slice of cookie cake. If your husband brings it home to you – even better.

blog02

6. If you’re looking for a spontaneous vacation, go to google.com/flights and pick a few dates. You can search for the cheapest fares and plan a last minute vaca pretty quickly. (Another warning: addiction is probable.)

7. There is nothing cuter than a German shepherd face.

Happy Wednesday, loves. :)

Today, I’m at home. I’m dieting after all the food I ate yesterday, and I’m working. Editing is essentially my life during wedding season. Staring at the computer all day certainly drains me. BUT, it is definitely a blessing compared to most desk and cubicle jobs…I can work in my pajamas with a diet wild cherry pepsi and have Jaws playing on my old school VHS player. And every time my eyes begin to hurt from staring at a screen for so long, I take a break to snuggle with a German shepherd. Not a bad life. ;)

However…here’s what I’d rather be doing right now.

I’d rather be in Colorado with this dude.

rather01

Or hiking there with these folks.

rather06

I’d rather be cruising. And let’s be real…eating cruise food.

rather02

I’d rather be at the zoo with Andrew watching him make this face at the zoo misters.

rather04

I’d rather be taking pictures in a field of flowers with these cuties.

rather03

Or snuggling this munchkin.

rather08

I’d rather be having an epic water balloon fight.

rather12

Or swimming with and being smooched by a dolphin.

rather11

I’d rather be eating pancakes!

rather16

Or eating this pizza.

rather13

Or this pizza. ;) Lol.

rather17

I’d rather be taking pictures with my boys in our backyard.

rather14

Or making funny faces in a field.

rather05

I’d MUCH RATHER be in Cancun with Hubs. And be tan again.

rather09

I’d rather be at the zoo watching this sassy seal.

rather15

Or be at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo with these creatures.

rather10

I would give my right arm to be at Friendly’s eating a Reese’s sundae right now.

rather07

I’d rather be roadtripping with my best friend.

rather18

I’d rather be hanging out with Hubs and Pups under a tent.

rather19

I’d rather be taking pictures like this.

rather20

Or spending the day at White Water Bay.

rather21

I’d rather be watching fireworks.

rather22

I’d really just rather be on the beach with this handsome fellow.

rather23

What would you rather be doing today? :)

Hello, Tuesday. Thank you for not being Monday.

Time for another round of catch up! I promise I’ve planned more exciting posts this week, but Andrew and I have been feeling sickly, so you just get a weekend recap post today. ;)

tues01

Oklahoma’s weather lately almost makes up for how horribly annoying it was a few weeks ago. ;)

tues07

Snuggles. The very best.

tues08

Flowers. :)

tues03

Braum’s date with my sweet Mikaela. :)

tues05

Celebrating this college grad! I have the most stellar best friend of all time.

tues06

She’s a gem.

tues04

Pre-wedding shooting. Hubs rocked it.

tues09

And we scored Cici’s for dinner after the wedding. Just FYI, Cici’s is hopping even at 9:30 at night.

tues02

This is one of 20 pictures I tried to take with Jackers on Mother’s Day…because, yes, he’s essentially my child. He was not in a picture mood, so this is the best we got.

tues10

More sunset loving. :)

Happy Tuesday, loves! Stay tuned for more delightfully exciting posts when I feel more energetic. :)

5 Things Few People Know

1. I adore mornings. I love getting up and working out and feeling like I’m being healthy…you know, until I eat my chocolate chip pancake. But that is a delightful staple of my morning as well, along with a small glass of milk and a morning snuggle with Jackers. Mornings feel so fresh and new and lovely.

2. I dream of living in Colorado on a horse ranch. While it might not be likely, there are few days I don’t daydream about moving to Colorado and buying a horse ranch that has a view of the mountains. I dream of a bay horse named Indiana and a buckskin named Diego. I won’t even tell you how many dogs and dog names I have in my dream land. I dream of sitting in front of a stone fireplace with Andrew and a pile of snuggly dogs, looking out at the mountains. And taking lots of pictures.

3. If I could go anywhere in the world right now, I would go to Australia…more specifically, I would go to Brisbane, hold a koala at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, go to the Australia Zoo, and finish the day at a beach with a pizza. Nope, never been. Just done my research. (Any Australian readers out there? Want to give me a place to stay!?)

4. My favorite font is Allura.

5. I never tire of Jack Johnson. He sounds good on sunny days, rainy days, plain days, crazy days, every day. Always.

4 Places to Visit

1. Australia. Obviously.

2. Hawaii.

3. Greece.

4. New Zealand.

(Now accepting donations for the Boswell travel fund.)

3 Favorite Words

1. Love.

2. Happy.

3. Muffin. (I like the sound of it, okay? I actually don’t even like muffins.)

2 Essentials

1. Jesus.

2. Family.

1 Thing that Brings Peace

1. Pancakes. ;) (And if I could choose another thing, I’d say puppies.)

Jackers

~Cait

I feel like the year is flying by at lightning speed…let’s catch up, shall we? Here’s what’s been happening in the land of Boswell.

Jacker Bear has been super awesome lately, and we’ve been getting in lots of snuggles and play time.

APR01

He’s recently decided that he should be on top of my lap when I’m working at my computer, and he literally hops up with his front legs halfway and sits there while I work. (Excuse the morning hair and no makeup look I’m sporting.)

APR03

I don’t mind. :)

APR02

And he thinks he should be allowed to share the laptop with Andrew.

APR06

APR09

APR11

APR13

He actually was a big boy and let us give him a bath without really trying to escape.

APR10

We’re so proud of our happy little boy. :) He’ll be 9 months in a few days! Craziness.

APR04

In other news, we’ve been THRILLED with some of the recent weather and finally had time to mow and plant. (Of course, Oklahoma has decided to throw some more cold at us this week…so rude.)

APR05

APR08

Jack has been loving the weather too!

APR12

Aaand we recently had Longhorn. :) I’ll never tire of this salad!

APR14

I bought this.

APR07

And we had some good family time. :)

And coming up in the next few weeks (and next few blogs hopefully), we have Andrew’s 24th birthday, a family brunch (PANCAKES!), the beginning of crazy wedding season, warm weather, dozens of photo shoots, our 2 year anniversary (AH!), a trip to Six Flags, and hopefully a beautiful beginning to summer. I’m working on my summer list now… :)

Happy Tuesday darlings. :)

I am literally a ridiculous basket case when I start to think of you. I can see a little blonde boy in Target…or playing in the street…or on Pinterest for crying out loud, and I melt and my eyes often get teary. At the same time, this giant fear bubble wells up in my chest, and I wonder how on earth I am going to bring you into this world. I’m terrified of the world. How will you be okay in it?!

Today, I saw a picture of a little blonde boy while perusing through my blog reader. I stopped and looked at the photo, and I swear you’re going to look a lot like the boy in the picture. Something in my heart twinged, and I started crying. Some days, I fear you more than anything else on the planet, and other days, I am so filled up with anticipation and can’t wait to meet you and take a billion pictures of you. I’m not sure how that works.

Today is one of those days that I feel more anticipation than fear. And although your Dad and I are ever so far away from having you, I wanted to write you a letter…mostly because I never have before, and I’m afraid I’ll forget some of these feelings and things I want to tell you.

Um…hi. I’m Caitlin. I’m your Mom. (*shriek*) I am currently 23, head over heels for your super attractive Dad, and obsessed with our dog Jack. My favorite things in the world are Jesus, family, pizza, and pancakes. I hope they are your favorite things too. Your Dad is cool. He likes to watch movies and keep up with politics. I like to watch movies and pretend politics don’t exist. We live in a little white house with a red door right now. Sometimes we talk about you. I’m pretty sure I know your name, but I can’t say it here yet because it’s so cute that I know people will steal it. ;) Your dad hopes you’ll be a football fan, and I hope you’ll be a basketball player. I’ve already decided I’m going to take you to the zoo weekly, if not daily, and you will love animals as much as I do. And hopefully pictures. You’ll probably think the camera is a member of our family. (And you’ll be right.) You’ll grow up in church, and I hope you’ll never stray. You will, God help me, be the most polite little “yes sir, yes ma’am” boy in your generation. We’re going to have awesome Christmas celebrations, and you will feel like the most important person in the world on your birthdays. I hope you turn out just like your Daddy minus the interest in politics, and I hope you have just a hint of my sarcasm. Most importantly…I hope you have the stark appreciation of food that your Dad and I have. ;)

I’m not sure when you’re coming, but I know you will be an adventure.

I love you, baby boy. Today, I can’t wait to meet you. Tomorrow, I’ll have an anxiety attack and swear off another few years before agreeing to have you.

~Mom

Today is rather dreary. Let’s talk about things that make me happy. :)

A good slice of cookie cake, naturally.

An Uncle Mitch cookie.

IMG_4506

Cornbread chicken. And a nautical plate. :)

The fact that I’ll be ON MY WAY HERE TOMORROW. :D I may have failed to mention that on the blog, but Mom, Dad, and Alyssa are heading to Colorado Springs for a mini trip to finalize some things before Dad’s conference there this summer, and I’m tagging along because I’m self-employed and can do that. ;)

Happy Tuesday darlings. :)
