I’m going to combine the rest of our trip into one post and wrap up the Florida Recaps today, because I have other exciting blog posts lined up for this week. :) Prepare for a lot of pictures. ;)
First, enjoy with us the ridiculousness of the car we were given by the rental company. We only needed it for two days and went with the cheapest option, which felt a little like driving a skittle. Haha.
We headed to Daytona Beach for some relaxation and sun!
The weather was heavenly.
Andrew turns into a little kid at the beach. He could play in the ocean for hours.
I turn into an old person at the beach and lay there feeling gross and sticky while I try to fall asleep. ;)
Before we left, we walked along the boardwalk and soaked up the ocean breeze for as long as we could. :)
Our hotel back in Orlando was part of what they called the “Marriott Village” – a grouping of three hotels with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. It was cheap and lovely and came with free breakfast. ;)
We spent Saturday night at Bahama Breeze, a place I desperately wish was still in Oklahoma!
The grilled chicken was fabulous.
Our last full day was spent at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. We were pretty exhausted by this point, but super excited for the new Diagon Alley section.
The entrance to Diagon Alley was a little hidden, but the Knight Bus tipped us off. ;)
We headed straight to the new ride, Escape from Gringott’s Bank, to knock it out before the line got too long. Would you believe we got stuck on it!? Haha, thankfully they gave us express vouchers to let us ride again right away, which came in handy when the wait jumped to over two hours! We were glad we rode it first.
We were a little nerdy and hyper.
The inside details were almost better than the ride. ;)
If you’re ever there, keep a watch on the dragon. It breathes fire every so often!
To go from Universal Studios to Islands of Adventure, you take the Hogwarts Express and feel incredibly awesome. ;) We were dying to watch all the movies when we got home. We have a movie marathon planned for this weekend. :)
We rode a few more rides that I don’t have pictures of because Universal makes you put your purses up in lockers before most rides, but just know that I dominated at Men in Black ;) and we immensely enjoyed the Mummy, Transformers, and ET rides. :)
Harry Potter & the Forbidden Journey was hands down our favorite ride, even though it wasn’t the newest. They did a great job on the castle and Hogsmeade.
Then it was time for Jurassic Park, and I just about exploded. (If you haven’t followed this blog long, Jurassic Park is my favorite movie.)
Again, I don’t have many pictures from this area, but we were busy enjoying the last moments of vacation. :) We rode the Jurassic Park log flume and loved it.
Our last night in Florida was spent at one of my favorite spots in the world. It’s sad that Friendly’s only inhabits the East Coast, because I’d give them an absurd amount of business if they came to Oklahoma.
Meet the Reese’s Sundae, the culprit behind my gaining three pounds on the trip. ;)
My favorite view. Husband + ice cream.
After we flew back to Dallas, we made another stop at Potbelly’s for Andrew before driving home. (Apparently one is coming to OKC soon!?)
And we ran into IKEA and made it out in record time with some new plates for me. Sweet husband. ;)
Whew. Did you make it this far?! :) We had a blast, and we’re already planning our next vacation. ;)
Happy Tuesday, loves!
