Weekend in Colorado

I’m dreadfully behind posting about this trip, but I feel like I’m dreadfully behind with everything these days. I have close to 4,000 photos left to edit this month, at least 5 loads of laundry, 7 pounds to lose, and about 2 days worth of deep cleaning that I have yet to accomplish. Let’s pretend I’m not procrastinating right now as I sit here and blog, mmk? ;)

We continued our celebration of 5 years of marriage with a quick trip to Colorado Springs over Memorial Day weekend! It’s one of our favorite places, and our little getaway left us with full hearts. And stomachs.

CO-02

It is imperative that you eat at Over Easy if you’re ever in the Colorado Springs area.

CO-03

Two of my favorite views: Pikes Peak and pancakes. ;)

CO-06

The hashbrowns were killer too.

CO-04

Every single time we visit, Garden of the Gods makes me wish I lived in Colorado.

Hiking is my happy place. (Not pictured – the fudge from the Trading Post. You need it in your life.)

CO-13

We headed to my other happy place, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, in the afternoon.

CO-14

Walking around the zoo doubles as a workout because it’s literally built into a mountain.

CO-22

CO-24

Andrew rocked the anniversary gifting and booked a surprise behind-the-scenes tiger encounter for us! I was THRILLED when we got to meet this beauty. His name is Ivan. :)

CO-15

CO-16

I hate selfies, but tiger selfies are an exception.

CO-17

He reminded me so much of Jack. ;)

CO-18

We fed him meatballs. Haha.

CO-27

CO-28

So. Handsome.

CO-29

It rained and hailed for about 15 minutes and I was bummed when I thought we wouldn’t get to feed the giraffes (the best part about that zoo), but we were super excited when we found out you could feed them inside the barn!

CO-30

CO-31

Pretty sure I was getting looks from laughing really loudly. They crack me up.

CO-32

CO-33

This baby lion was such a cutie.

CO-34

CO-35

CO-36

It’s safe to say most of our trips revolve around food. We wrapped up the day with dinner at Savelli’s!

CO-20

CO-21

Funny story – we ran into two of my sweet friends from high school on their own little getaway!

CO-19

My husband loves me so much. He humored me for an hour of crazy picture-taking in the mountains – dodging the rain, illegally parking, and wrangling a giant “5” balloon. Haha. HE IS THE BEST. ;)

It’s still hard to believe I’ve had this handsome man for 5 years. :)

I’ve got lots more to catch up on here, but I’ll save it for another post. :) Happy Monday, friends!

The Spontaneous Valentine’s Day

It’s a well-known fact that I like to plan ahead. Schedules, lists, planners, notebooks…they are my happy place. I occasionally get an itch to be spontaneous, however, and being married to a man who doesn’t quite share my love of organized schedules helps me break the planned-out life now and again. ;)

Once upon a time, we were gifted some flight vouchers from Spirit airlines because one of our flights on the way back from Australia was delayed. The only stipulation was that we had to use the vouchers and book flights within a certain time frame. Instead of a vacation planned out meticulously for several months, we booked a short cruise for February in early January. Instead of packing a week prior to leaving, I was off my A-game and we packed the night before. And instead of going to lunch and playing mini golf like we’d planned for our last day in Florida before flying home, we spontaneously decided Disney World would be a better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Most of my plans were THROWN OUT THE WINDOW. And I kinda liked it.

vd01

Guys. Don’t let the world scare you away from marriage. It’s the best thing in the world.

vd02

I implore all of you wealthy people. Please purchase a Friendly’s franchise and put it in Oklahoma. I’d be there weekly.

vd03

vd04

vd05

Another restaurant I wish was here: Bahama Breeze.

vd06

I wish that I had ordered two grilled chicken meals.

vd07

We boarded the Carnival Sensation out of Port Canaveral and the feast trip began!

vd08

We were a little hesitant, but we ended up letting Carnival choose our room because it was cheaper, and we actually had a pretty great ocean view room on the 6th deck! Bargain choice for the win.

vd09

vd10

vd11

vd13

vd14

vd15

vd16

Date night every night? I’ll take it.

vd17

This beef brisket was probably the best part of my weekend.

vd18

vd19

Andrew is passionate about chocolate lava cake.

vd20

vd21

vd22

vd23

Yes. You do see a box of goldfish in the background of this picture.

vd24

vd25

I married up.

vd26

vd28

Our only port was Nassau, and we lucked out with a sunny and 75-degree day.

vd27

I wish I could have met this person who clearly has their priorities straight.

vd29

We spent our day at Atlantis and soaked up every hour in this paradise!

vd30

vd31

vd32

vd33

vd34

vd35

Do you see those sharks? We went on a slide called the “Leap of Faith,” that plummets you right through them at an alarming speed. Safe to say, it wasn’t my favorite ride. ;)

vd36

vd37

vd38

vd39

vd40

vd41

vd42

vd43

Has anyone ever stayed here? We would love to go back someday!

vd44

vd45

God delivered us the most wonderful pizza before we left for the day. ;)

vd46

vd47

Andrew was feeling gutsy and tried roasted duck for the first time. He was pretty impressed.

vd48

I wish breakfast was this beautiful every day. ;)

vd49

vd50

vd51

vd52

vd53

If you’ve never been on a cruise, you should go just for the 24-hour ice cream.

vd54

vd55

Can someone please tell me what animal this is? I thought it looked like a penguin, but Andrew disagreed. Haha.

vd56

vd57

vd58

On our way back into Orlando, I told Andrew that we had a lot more time to kill than I realized. Within 10 minutes, we were parking at Disney World and looking up the wait times for the Buzz Lightyear ride. ;)

vd59

vd60

Why not? ;)

vd61

vd62

vd63

vd64

vd65

vd66

Confession. Log flumes scare me more than roller coasters.

vd71

vd67

Before we headed back to the airport, Andrew got the highest score you can possibly get on Buzz Lightyear. Haha.

vd68

vd69

vd70

Hope you all had the most perfect holiday weekend and are enjoying your week! :)

Worm Takes Disney

First things first – if you’re new to this blog, you should know my little sister’s nickname is Worm. Blame my father and his inability to call his children by their real names.

disney01

I can’t believe my baby sister is 18. It was the age that first made me feel like I was old, and now it’s the age that I wish I could go back to because turning 26 in a few weeks sounds awful. ;) One of her Christmas / birthday presents this year was a girls trip to Disney!

disney02

We stayed at Coronado Springs Resort, which felt like a tiny piece of Mexico.

disney03

disney04

disney10

I probably wouldn’t stay there again because I’m partial to American food (read: picky beyond all reason), but this little dining area was so cute!

disney09

After we checked in, we took an Uber to the restaurant that heals all sorrows.

disney06

I’ve missed you, friend.

disney08

Thank you, kind waitress, for taking our photo and not raising an eyebrow when I asked for an extra Reese’s in my sundae.

disney07

disney12

disney11

If you’re ever in the Disney area and don’t care about the parks, at least go check out this restaurant in Disney Springs. Make reservations because it’s usually crowded, and order the rotisserie chicken because it’s GRAND.

disney15

disney13

disney14

disney16

disney18

Also get the tortilla chips.

disney19

We managed to fit every park in our two-day time frame, and if my iPhone step tracker tells the truth, we walked about 8 miles a day.

disney17

disney21

disney23

disney20

These really made me miss Andrew. ;)

disney22

disney24

disney25

You all know my anti-selfie opinions. The exceptions extend to ice cream bars at Disney World. ;)

disney26

I look forward to the day my future kiddos judge me for enjoying the breakfast at Disney World more than anything else.

disney28

Seriously came close to buying these. My husband has turned me into a Star Wars nerd.

disney29

disney27

disney30

That head burrowed in my mother-in-law’s side? That’s Alyssa, hiding from mechanical dinosaurs.

disney31

I hope you can click on this photo and zoom in on her face. It’s my favorite.

disney32

Expedition Everest remains my favorite ride ever.

disney34

If I lived in Florida, I’d like to work at Animal Kingdom and hang out with these guys all day.

disney35

disney36

disney37

disney38

I was feeling the pains of overeating at Epcot, so I didn’t take as many pictures. You knew I would have to capture the pizza though, right? ;)

disney39

disney40

disney41

If you go to Disney on or around your birthday, make sure they give you a pin to wear. Everyone will tell you happy birthday, and you’ll more than likely get free cake. If you’re as lucky as Alyssa, you might get a Happy Birthday song from four Italian guys bearing a cupcake at the Italian pizzeria. ;)

disney42

We had a blast, but I’m so thrilled to be home sweet home with my favorite faces! :)

Happy weekend, loves! :)
