Weekend in Colorado

I’m dreadfully behind posting about this trip, but I feel like I’m dreadfully behind with everything these days. I have close to 4,000 photos left to edit this month, at least 5 loads of laundry, 7 pounds to lose, and about 2 days worth of deep cleaning that I have yet to accomplish. Let’s pretend I’m not procrastinating right now as I sit here and blog, mmk? ;)

We continued our celebration of 5 years of marriage with a quick trip to Colorado Springs over Memorial Day weekend! It’s one of our favorite places, and our little getaway left us with full hearts. And stomachs.

It is imperative that you eat at Over Easy if you’re ever in the Colorado Springs area.

Every single time we visit, Garden of the Gods makes me wish I lived in Colorado.

Hiking is my happy place. (Not pictured – the fudge from the Trading Post. You need it in your life.)

We headed to my other happy place, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, in the afternoon.

Walking around the zoo doubles as a workout because it’s literally built into a mountain.

Andrew rocked the anniversary gifting and booked a surprise behind-the-scenes tiger encounter for us! I was THRILLED when we got to meet this beauty. His name is Ivan. :)

I hate selfies, but tiger selfies are an exception.

He reminded me so much of Jack. ;)

We fed him meatballs. Haha.

So. Handsome.

It rained and hailed for about 15 minutes and I was bummed when I thought we wouldn’t get to feed the giraffes (the best part about that zoo), but we were super excited when we found out you could feed them inside the barn!

Pretty sure I was getting looks from laughing really loudly. They crack me up.

This baby lion was such a cutie.

It’s safe to say most of our trips revolve around food. We wrapped up the day with dinner at Savelli’s!

Funny story – we ran into two of my sweet friends from high school on their own little getaway!

My husband loves me so much. He humored me for an hour of crazy picture-taking in the mountains – dodging the rain, illegally parking, and wrangling a giant “5” balloon. Haha. HE IS THE BEST. ;)

It’s still hard to believe I’ve had this handsome man for 5 years. :)

Mother’s Day Brunch

This week has been one of the busiest weeks of the year work-wise, but I am SO FLIPPIN EXCITED it’s Friday and so ready for the end of this month. We celebrate our 5-year anniversary next weekend (YEP it’s been that long), and we’ll be living it up in Colorado the weekend after that! I’m telling myself over and over again that the busy days will eventually slow down. Let’s just say I could use a nap. ;)

Sometimes it feels like I only blog after holidays or birthdays haha, but once I get past this crazy month, I’m hoping I can be a little more consistent. :) For now, let’s play catch up again!

We had all our favorite mamas over last Sunday for a Mother’s Day brunch! We had pancakes, donuts, watermelon, breakfast casserole, quiche, and a biscuit bar! And a side of diabetes.

We had to get creative fitting 18 people in our kitchen. ;)

I saw some bouquets similar to these on Pinterest and thought it would be a cute way to do place cards for the moms! They each got to take home their little picture bouquet.

Pretend that Alyssa’s famous gravy is in that empty grey bowl. It was still being cooked to perfection when this picture was taken. ;)

Andrew and I repeatedly thank the Lord and count our lucky stars for these families. We are so blessed that they get along so well!

After a heap of food and photos, we released Jack to entertain us with frisbee-catching skills.

I’m not sure how it was the first time these two really met, but it was hilarious and adorable. Jack seemed afraid that Henry was going to take all his frisbees, so he kept hiding with them. And when we put the pup back inside to rest, Henry roamed around the backyard searching for him saying, “Woof…woof…woof.” My heart exploded.

Happy Thoughts – April

The more busyness and craziness that life throws our way, the more blessings the Lord throws us to balance it out. ;) I’m counting those blessings and dwelling on happy thoughts today. :)

Happy thought #1: My baby nephew turned 1 this week! (Yes, that’s also a sad thought.) We may have gone a little present crazy.

That face! My heart.

Little genius baby is already dunking.

So much cute.

This is the proper way to eat your first birthday cake.

Happy thought #2: I got to meet my second nephew this week. ;) This is my best friend’s new pup, Pete! Sorry about my squinty Quasimodo eye.

I think the meeting went pretty well.

Happy thought #3: This lady. We’re both crazy busy most weeks, but we make up for lost time by talking and laughing our heads off for four hours when we finally get to hang.

Happy thought #4: Deep Deuce chips and queso. The obsession is real.

Happy thought #5: Twinning with Henry.

Happy thought #6: Jack Sparrow in the spring. We LOVE warm weather!

Happy thought #7: Marriage. And evening walks. They’re my favorite things.

Happy thought #8: Cheesecake Factory work dinner. I knew adding a part-time job to my plate was the right decision. I think I convinced half the group to get the crispy chicken costoletta. ;)
