Life According to My iPhone

I can’t seem to get ahead of my work lately. I caught up with everything for about a week, but instead of using that week to get ahead of my work like a responsible adult, I used it to takes naps and watch Netflix. Fail. ;) So forgive me, but the posts will be slightly sporadic for a few more weeks it looks like. It seems we’ve fit so much into this year already, and I’m scrambling to slow things down and find that perfect balance. When someone asks what I did over the weekend, I always have to sit and think about it for a few seconds because it’s all a blur. (I think that means I need to schedule more free time, right!?) Thank God for pictures to jog my memory! Here’s life lately, according to my iPhone.

Jack: master of frisbee-catching and picture-posing.

iphone03

Andrew: master of making us eat Upper Crust way more than we should. ;)

iphone02

Eating at Cheesecake Factory more than we should… is 90% my fault.

The best work days are when little Henry comes to visit! He loves his Papa!

iphone05

He is all about that bubble wrap.

We had a work girls night out at Deep Deuce and got to introduce Jen and Karen to the legendary queso. ;)

And waffle fries.

iphone09

I love these ladies!

We had our families over for the most epic of Super Bowl Sundays, complete with a snack stadium!

iphone11

I don’t even care about the Super Bowl that much. I just wanted all the foods. ;)

Alyssa made her famous guacamole.

My man brought home some early Valentine’s flowers last night because we’ll be on our CRUISE over Valentine’s Day weekend. :D I’ll be back with more pictures next week. ;)

2015 Yearbook

One of my favorite days of every year is the day our yearbook arrives. I’ve made one every year since we’ve been married, and they are such a fun way to preserve our memories! I use Photobook America‘s leather-bound, debossed books, and I looooove them. It’s so easy to forget what happens week by week, and even the most insignificant moments are fun to look back on in these books.

The 2015 book was twice the size as all the other years, so I definitely didn’t take a shot of every page, but here are some highlights. ;) We chose the “cadet grey” leather cover, which really looks more aqua to me, and I LIKE IT.

Do any of you make yearbooks? I’d love to hear any tips or fun traditions you have to keep track of the years!

Planner World

Last year was the first year I used a homemade planner – a ridiculous, 86-page monster that I designed in Photoshop and printed on card stock. It was the most glorious thing I think I have ever created. ;) From now on, I believe I’ll be forced to make one every year, because I loved it way more than any other planner I’ve ever had. This year, however, the obsession has grown. My 2016 planner has a whopping 98 pages, and I created a companion notebook with more planning pages to go along with it. The nice man who binds my books at Staples definitely thinks I’m insane. (I hope you type-A list-makers are virtually fist-bumping me though.)

First up – the planner. I have yet to fall out of love with all things nautical.

Quick side note – I apologize that these pictures are mildly terrible. I was pressed for time. I know, I’m a photographer, but you’ll get the idea.

planner03

To keep you from scrolling for three years, I won’t show you every page, but here are the highlights!

planner04

Papermate pens found here. I’m obsessed with them.

The second book I made is basically all the stuff that I would have put in the back of the planner if the binding machine at Staples was bigger. I think I like having a second book though, and I most likely will make next year’s books separate – one strictly calendar dates and the other all lists / extra pages.

planner21

I’m trying out “mission boards” this year. So far, I’m a fan! It helps give a framing to each month.

These handy little divider tabs are awesome and can be found here.

These “today’s plan” pages are also a new thing I’m trying. I often write quick schedules on a sticky note or in a regular spiral notebook if I want to put down more specifics that won’t all fit in my planner, but I’m going to try to use these now to keep everything together. I don’t use one every day – just for the days that I have an excessive amount of things to sort out by writing down. ;)

planner27

I’ve never been a huge meal planner…mostly because it takes me entirely too long to decide what I want to eat, and I change my mind 12 times a day. I didn’t print too many of these because our schedules aren’t always exact, but I know they’ll be really helpful for grocery shopping on dieting days!

I’d love to hear any suggestions you all might have for making next year’s books even better. :)
